Royal Caribbean Cruising for…Barbie?

There's a lot of grandparents out there — like us — quietly hoping their granddaughters don't get wind of what's happening at Royal Caribbean.

In a word, Barbie.

We have two granddaughters who are nine and eight so, yes, they know all about Barbie. Is there a granddaughter anywhere who doesn't? Yes, there is. Our 10-month-old granddaughter, but only because her cousins haven't made the introduction yet.

What Royal Caribbean's up to is this: a Barbie Cruise. And just to make sure you don't miss it, this isn't just one Barbie Dream Cruise. It's a whole family of them. In perpetuity. Like forever, or as forever as anything gets in the cruise business.

Exactly, how do you say no?

The first time you get to experience Barbie on the ocean is January, on select Royal Caribbean ships. By March, she'll be on the whole fleet. That's 22 ships…and 22 Barbie Movie Nights, Barbie Story Times, Barbie movies on stateroom TVs and assorted other Barbie-themed activities.

There's even a contest running (www.barbiecruisevacation.com) in which Barbie lovers — aged 3 to 15 — can enter to win a seven-night Barbie Cruise Vacation, with weekly chances to go Barbie shopping at Walmart with $50 in hand.

It's for little kids who just can't get enough Barbie.

Our granddaughters will be all over this one.

If somebody tells them.

Can't you just see Grandpa, playing Barbie?
