New Epic Legends — and Music!

One of the most enjoyable entertainment experiences we’ve had on a cruise ship was the Legends In Concert, the imitation/tribute business that has been a staple on The Strip in Las Vegas for more than a quarter of a century.

Now, Norwegian’s Epic is never going to be confused with The Strip, unless you’re sitting in the Epic Theater watching The Legends at work. When we did, the “tribute artists” were Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson and Britney Spears.

There’s been a few iterations of Legends get on and off the Epic since then, and the latest threesome boards the ship next week in Miami. It’s for customers interested in the music Lady Gaga, Elvis Presley and Steven Tyler.

Or is it?

“It’s not just about the music,” says Kate Steele, aka Lady Gaga. “It’s about the performance, the attitude, the look, it’s everything. That is where I live as an artist and that is what I want to accomplish.”

Hmm, and all this time, we thought it was about the music. If not, wouldn’t they just be called Looking Like Legends?

And just in case you think people are tired of seeing “Elvis Presleys” here, there and everywhere, you should know that among the 118 performers for Legends In Concert, there are ELEVEN artists who play The King.

Unlike Elvis, his music will never die…oops, but it’s not about the music!
