Many years ago, a dear old friend of ours taught me how to play bridge, even though he recognized I was a card player of limited skill. I fell in love with the game. Unfortunately, my bride did not and ever since our wedding day I’ve averaged maybe one game of bridge per decade.
The other day, she brought a cruise press release to my attention:
“In 2012, ultra-luxury Silversea Cruises will offer its most expansive collection of bridge cruises ever. Spanning the world from Auckland and Shanghai to Rio and Monte Carlo, 56 voyages will feature a bridge enrichment program. A bridge cruise features a formal program of contract and duplicate bridge, supervised by instructors who are certified American Contract Bridge League Life Masters. All bridge sailing activities are complimentary and guests can enjoy daily bridge sessions (twice daily on sea days), bridge lectures for both beginning and intermediate-level players…”
What really caught my attention was a lecture for “beginning” players.
Maybe there’s a chance she’d go.
