Norwegian Dawn Lands the 'Ladies'

I first heard about the alternative rock band Barenaked Ladies about 17 years ago, when our eldest son (Lincoln) was introduced to the BNL’s music by his college roommate (Darren). We loved the group’s first hit — If I Had A Million Dollars. Actually, we didn’t have much choice…it was sung and played around our house for weeks on end.

We loosely followed the band (through our kids) for years. Unfortunately, things took a downward turn for BNL, with the abrupt “departure” of founding member Steven Page last year.

The “Ladies” are still cruising. They just announced that the remainder of the band (plus additions) are again taking to the Caribbean waters on the Norwegian Dawn.

The five-night NCL cruise leaves Miami on February 6, 2011, and will include stops in Costa Maya and Belize City (great spot, in our opinion). Passage can be booked as of June 30, with prices starting at $799 per person, based on double occupancy (Our kids would’ve paid that just to see the band!).

This is the fourth working cruise for Barenaked Ladies — the first was in 2007 — and the itinerary includes a concert by the group, and other musical guest performances. Guster (never heard of them) is one, and others haven’t been announced. Stay tuned.

Interestingly, on their past cruises, Barenaked Ladies have been onboard for the entire journey, unlike some acts that embark at a port along the way, join the cruise long enough to fulfill their obligations, and leave.

If I had a million dollars…I’d take our kids!

That’s it, I’m done.
