In the business we’re in, sometimes you can find cruise ships in the unlikeliest places, so we thought this week it would be a good idea to follow up on a rumor and go looking for one in an unlikely place.
Pebble Beach.
It’s probably going to be in the news a little this week, even if we don’t find a cruise ship there (or maybe we should say “here”), because they’re playing a golf tournament on the shores of Carmel Bay and Stillwater Cove, starting today. But we’d heard there’d been a cruise-ship sighting in these waters, and for us that’s like hearing somebody spotted the Loch Ness Monster. So here we are, intrepid cruise writers with cameras and notebooks in hand, trying to find the mystery boat.
We’ve been here for four days. No ship. Lots of boats, some of them with people aiming telescopic lens right at us it seems…we hope they get our good side! We’ve heard of a few individuals whose names imply aquatic activities — Cink (Stewart), Fisher (Ross) and Verplank (Scott) — but somebody said these guys aren’t much interested in being in the water.
That’s their problem.
We didn’t even make our Pebble Beach project public, but word seems to have seeped out, because there are hundreds of people around us. Cruising is becoming more popular by the day, but who’d have thought so many would go looking for a cruise ship?
We’ll let you know when we find it.
That’s it, we’re done.
