Unless you think that standing in a glass shower that hangs over the side of a cruise ship is priceless, you might be interested in finding out just what it costs to rent the most luxurious suite on the new Celebrity Reflection.
On the other hand, if the thrill of the shower is enough no matter what the cost, you can
stop reading now.
In February, when the Reflection Suite is available, you can book it for between $23,496 and $25,398 for a 7-day Caribbean cruise on Celebrity's new ship. Add to that taxes and gratuities, and you're probably getting close to $30,000.
Now before you choke and sputter that only lottery winners can afford such opulence, be sure to put this in perspective…
Number one, the suite can accommodate six people, so if you know four others you'd like to spend a week with in not-so-close quarters, the cost per person — all in — is about $5,000, give or take.
Number two, this is the ultimate luxury. The suite is 1,636 square feet, the balcony is another 194 and it wraps around the front of the ship, on the port side. It's a better view than the captain's, because it's higher and the windows are floor to ceiling.
Number three, it has two hot tubs and a private butler who's available 24/7 to serve you lunch, dinner, expresso, hors d'oeuvres…whatever you want.
Number four, not only are all your out-of-suite meals included, but so is a table at Blu, the private restaurant available only to guests in suites.
Number five, it is private enough that your only neighbors are also suites people, and the only other passengers who can access the hallways with a special card.
Number six, besides views from just about everywhere, the suite has an iPad for
controlling everything but tempers, mattresses that are to sleep for and the best of hypo-allergenic and anti-bacterial cosmetics.
Compare that to a scenic once-in-a-lifetime setting for a week for six people, with all meals and prohibitive luxury, and maybe $5,000 isn't so hard to take.
And who can match the shower?
