Today's kids might not be able to identify with this, but "ratatouille" is an Occitan dish, which means it's from the south of France, and it's made of stewed vegetables that when all is said and done is called Ratatouille Nicoise.
In other words, the original doesn't come from Disney, or even Pixar, and it's not served by Remy. If you're one of yesterday's kids and you don't quite get that, Ratatouille is a Pixar movie, Remy is one of the animated characters and both of them will be on a Disney cruise ship in the fall.
That's why you're reading about it here.
The world's only cruise line built for kids is sending the Disney Wonder off to sea with guests from four Pixar films, the entire library of Pixar flicks and a special screening of
Finding Nemo 3D, the latest animation on the big screen. It will be shown in both the Wonder's theaters as it's being shown, simultaneously, in theaters around the country.
The 7-day cruises run every Friday starting September 7, for four weeks, from Los Angeles and back.
Kids (young and old) on the Wonder will also meet Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Jessie from Toy Story, Mr. Incredible from the movie named after his family and Carl Fredricksen from Up. Lower profile people like artists and filmmakers from Pixar will be on the ship to give passengers some sneak previews of future productions, and to provide an insider's look at the creative process.
As for the creative process for Ratatouille (the dish)…cook the vegetables separately. They taste better that way.
