Once upon a time, there was really only one way for the rank and file to become a millionaire. It was through the generosity of a fictional TV character named J. Beresford Tipton, who dispatched his courier to turn ordinary people into millionaires.
For viewers, it was just a dream.
Then, along came long-shot lotteries and assorted other types of gambling, most of which required a significant investment to win a million bucks. Now, along comes Norwegian Cruise Line.
The first-ever “Millionaire Maker Slot Tournament at sea” is happening right now on the Norwegian Spirit. The tournament’s been around for 16 years, courtesy of Caesar’s Entertainment (it probably has a palatial connection in Las Vegas), and this is the first time it’s being held on a cruise ship.
NCL claims it has been recognized as the “best cruise line casino.” Having had a little good luck on Norwegian ships, we’d second that — you always like casinos where you win.
And sometime between now and Saturday, there’s going to be a millionaire who endorses that claim, big time.
