When the clock struck 12:01 yesterday morning, anybody in the United States and Canada (21 or older) was able to enter Celebrity’s Cruise the Caribbean Sweepstakes. You don’t have to be a Celebrity cruiser, you don’t have to buy or even plan a cruise to enter. You just have to be 21 and interested.
It’s all part of the real “sweepstakes” — the ongoing battle to see which cruise line can dominate the high seas of the Caribbean — and Celebrity has its big three in the armada (capacity 2,850 each). The Solstice Class ships will all be in the Caribbean by the end of the year, the Eclipse for the first time, and that’s probably when the sweepstakes winners will first be able to collect their prizes.
Only the Solstice is in the Caribbean for the summer months, when its twin sisters are busy in Europe. The Eclipse and the Equinox both make the trans-Atlantic trip to Florida at the end of October.
Oh, and the grand prize?
A Caribbean cruise in the Royal Suite on the Solstice or the Eclipse (just launched a couple of weeks ago), including air fare for two from a major airport near your home. There are 15 other air-and-cruise prizes of lesser stature, and you can find all the rules and regs on Celebrity’s website.
At the risk of being a sounding board for cruise-line contests, we think this one’s a no-brainer. And if you have five friends who don’t mind if Celebrity has their email addresses, you can submit their names for entry in the contest, too.
Of course, first of all, you must have five friends who are 21!
That’s it…we’re done.
