This Casino a Winner for Everyone

Like most people who frequent casinos on cruise ships, we’ve had some luck. Some of it good. Some bad. When we hear about a change in procedure involving cruise-ship casinos, it catches our interest.

Like this weekend, for instance.

There was a story from Europe that the government of Gibraltar is now allowing cruise ships to open their casinos and shops while still in port (after 6 p.m.). Ordinarily, ships have to be on international waters to open their casinos.

This move is a winner. For the cruise lines who can stay longer in ports without sacrificing revenue from casinos, and offer more shore excursions. For the passengers who want to stay longer in Gibraltar’s ports. For Gibraltar, which benefits from the longer stays.  For the environment, often victimized when ships use more fuel if the next port is not that far.

So it’s a win-win-win-win decision.

And the people in the casinos? Some good, some bad.
