What Can Happen When People Go Overboard

During the weekend, a passenger disappeared from a small cruise ship off the coast of Florida and speculation is that it was a suicide.

We can just hear our friends…you know, the ones who don't bother to enjoy cruising.

"See what happens when you go on a cruise!"

Every time there is something remotely resembling bad news about a cruise ship, even one as obscure as the Bahamas Celebration, we hear about it. It's perceived to be Bahamas Celebrationanother nail in the coffin of the industry to which we're connected…as if cruising is going to go away when bad things happen.

But passengers overboard?

Most times — and "man overboard" happens more often than we think or know about — it's some poor soul taking his or her own life. Unfortunately, this happens in many places. But if an individual does this by jumping off the bridge, would our friends say:

"See what happens when you go on a bridge?"
