Okay, there's a new cruise ship that's being built. It's a replica of an old cruise ship and, with few exceptions, it's going to look just like the original.
The new one will have an extra deck, be four feet wider in the interests of stability and safety, and be outfitted with state-of-the-art navigational technology…as well as air
conditioning.
Like the original, it will also have:
• Three classes of passengers (i.e., lower, middle and upper)
• A casino that's only accessible to first-class passengers and not to any pensioners
• Shared bathrooms and long tables for dinner for third-class passengers
• The same menus as the original ship, from a long time ago
The new ship is the brainchild of Australian mining billionaire Clive Palmer and is being built, like almost everything else these days, in China (Nanjing, at the CSC Jinling Shipyard). The accompanying drawings — as difficult as they are to read — are to give you just a little taste of what the new ship's supposed to look like. It's supposed to make its maiden voyage in late 2016 and people are already lining up — 30,000 have registered for the trip on a ship that will carry fewer than 2,000.
Oh yes, the name of the ship…
Titanic.
Actually, Titanic II…and like TI, it's going to travel from England to New York.
Would you go? If it left in the month of April…crossing the North Atlantic…through a field of icebergs?
This story's been floating around for weeks. That means it's already survived longer than the Titanic.
