Fireworks on Deck at Disney

It's on days like today that Disney can be happy it's Disney. No other cruise line is able to have fireworks displays at sea, and today is the Fourth of July, if you hadn't noticed.

Disney Cruise Line wanted — and received — permission for fireworks to tie in with its Pirate Night, a Pirates of the Caribbean style celebration that would be missing something without a Buccaneer Blast Fireworks. Nobody seems to know what Disney had to do to get clearance but it probably involved addressing a lot of safety concerns, not to mention a lot of money.

Fireworks displays are a staple with Disney. At Disney World, fireworks happen every day in the Magic Kingdom and also in the Epcot Center. Out west in California, at Disneyland…same thing in its theme parks.

Once permission was granted for explosives at sea, Disney was free to spread the pyrotechnics among its entire fleet of four — Wonder, Magic, Dream and Fantasy.

On the Fourth of July, that couldn't have come in handier.
