Next month, we’re booked on a 7-day cruise from Anchorage to Vancouver. The Coral Princess takes the Inside Passage south, stopping in Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, and we’d like some input from seasoned Alaska cruisers.
In Skagway, there are 40 shore excursions on the Princess list. In Juneau, there are 44. In Ketchikan, a mere 36. With all those options, how do you choose?
So we’d like some input from cruisers who have been to Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. Is there a shore excursion that is a must-do in any of these three ports? What part of the topography in these ports should not, under any circumstances, be missed? Are you afraid of heights and still able to keep your eyes open in a helicopter? Should everyone who goes to Alaska experience gold-panning? Sled-dogging…or is it dog-sledding?
There are some demographic limitations, of course. Suspension bridges, motorcycles, ziplines and ATVs are out of the question.
Otherwise, give us your best shot…please.
