One day last month, passengers on a cruise ship named Boudicca went to bed one night expecting they would wake up in Liverpool and be properly disembarked.
They woke up in Dublin. They were blown away. Literally. High winds forced the Boudicca,
from the Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines fleet of four, to delay and eventually cancel its return to Liverpool. Dublin became the best option.
Once the shock wore off, the passengers occupying the 449 cabins who weren’t philosophical were downright angry. One was even scared. No offense to Dublin (a city we’ve never seen) nor to the Boudicca (a ship we’ve never sailed) but we’d rather have been in Liverpool, too. Especially if that’s the way it was planned.
But stuff happens, doesn’t it? Roll with the punches, or at least with the waves.
The cruise line flew all the passengers “back home” — wherever home was. For most people, that was a reasonable response…unless you’re like the woman who was scared.
Of flying.
