Passport Problems Possible

AT SEA ON BOARD THE CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM — You don’t have to be a cruising neophyte to get in passport trouble. Anyone who’s ever cruised knows that unless you’re going from New York to Puerto Rico and back, you need a passport. A new country means if you don’t have one, you don’t go.
Alas, there can be complications. Stuff happens. Stuff like the man from Utah who left his passport on the photocopy machine. Stuff like the woman from New England grabbing her husband’s passport by mistake, and leaving home without hers.
These can be cruise-ending experiences. For example, none of the courier companies in Puerto Rico, where we boarded the ship, is open on the weekend. The ship left Friday night, so if your AWOL passport didn’t catch up with you by then in San Juan, you wouldn’t get it until Monday. By then, the ship had left its next port in Colombia and wouldn’t be docked again until tomorrow in Costa Rica.
So don’t worry about leaving home without the camera or the binoculars, worry about the passport.
That’s it…we’re done.
