Phil Reimer, Canada’s most erudite cruise writer, broke the news that Holland America would have seven ships in Europe starting next year with the arrival of the Nieuw Amsterdam.
Here’s how Rick Meadows, CTC executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs, explained the strategy to Reimer: “We are catering to a broader range of interests as the appeal of cruising Europe continues to grow. “By expanding our cruise opportunities — both in new ports and varied itineraries — we expect to entice both first-time and seasoned cruisers.”
The Nieuw Amsterdam will be ship No. 7, joining the Eurodam, Noordam, Rotterdam, Prinsendam, Maasdam and Ryndam. With more ships come more European itineraries, including two commemorative nine-day historical trans-Atlantic crossings aboard Rotterdam in July this year.
Holland America has all the details online.
That’s it, we’re done.
