Maybe &#8220;Hurricane&#8221; Season should be called &#8220;Tropical Storm&#8221; Season \u2014 at least by the cruise community.<\/p>\n<p>The name change that could take place today is all about Irene. Weather experts could be saying &#8220;Goodnight Irene&#8221; to the ninth tropical storm to get a name this year, and change her to Hurricane Irene, if she picks up strength over the Eastern Caribbean Sea as expected. Let&#8217;s hope that name change never materializes!<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, her impact has already been felt by cruise ships in the area. Four <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalcaribbean.com\/home.do\">Royal Caribbean<\/a> ships, include both mega ships <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allureoftheseas.com\">Allure<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oasisoftheseas.com\">Oasis of the Seas<\/a>, will visit ports in a different order to avoid the storm. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cms\/fun\/ships\/carnival_miracle\/default.aspx?shipCode=MI\">Carnival Miracle<\/a> (above),in the midst of its 8-night Caribbean cruise from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/portal\/site\/nycgov\/?front_door=true\">New York<\/a>, is skipping <a href=\"http:\/\/www.topuertorico.org\/city\/sanjuan.shtml\">Puerto Rico<\/a> and the Virgin Islands entirely, and going to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caribbeanportreviews.com\/HalfMoonCay.htm\">Half Moon Cay<\/a> \u2014 its own island \u2014 instead.<\/p>\n<p>Cruise lines have lots of expertise and lots of experience when it comes to avoiding bad weather to keep its passengers safe.
