When Norwegian<\/a> announced the other day that it was “offering special rates” to members of the U.S. and Canadian armed forces, we thought we’d check it out…even though we don’t qualify.<\/p>\n

NCL’s gesture is admirable and “saluting” the armed forces is typical of the cruise line’s well-established knack for innovations. But press release didn’t say what the special rates were. Neither did the website where applicants were directed \u2014 in addition to a travel professional and NCL by phone \u2014 to take advantage. As a service to the servicemen and servicewomen, we contacted the cruise line, and here’s what we found out:<\/p>\n

1. A dedicated landing page featuring all the military discounts will be on the website soon.<\/p>\n

2. Bookings can be made for the Epic<\/a> or Pride of America<\/a> online by entering MILITARY in the “promo code.”<\/p>\n

3. The special rates are not percentage discounts, but reduced rates that depend on ship and date and, says Amanda Graham, NCL’s Manager of Public Relations: “It’s a very good deal.”<\/p>\n
