John Heald, who can be so outrageously funny that some may accuse him of thriving on fiction, has had a big-time dose of reality-cum-fiction this month.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-8515\" href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/2011\/06\/cruise-criticism-stranger-than-fiction\/john-honeywell-400\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8515 alignright\" title=\"John Honeywell-400\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/John-Honeywell-400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"71\" \/><\/a>Now this information comes from another John (Honeywell), aka <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.mirror.co.uk\/captain-greybeard\/\">Captain Greybeard<\/a>. Since there have to be some privileges in being a greybeard, even if I&#8217;m neither a Captain nor a John, using the popular cruisaholic from The Mirror in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitlondon.com\/?WT.srch=1&amp;WT.mc_id=us_ol_sem_0101023&amp;gclid=CP6miOKD5aYCFR9NgwodHwnozA\">London<\/a> as a source is surely acceptable.<\/p>\n<p>Captain Greybeard was feeling sorry for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/\">Carnival&#8217;s<\/a> chief cruise director, who&#8217;s also a regular cruise blogger. Here are some of the reasons <a href=\"http:\/\/johnhealdsblog.com\/\">John Heald<\/a> was deserving of a little sympathy\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-8525\" href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/2011\/06\/cruise-criticism-stranger-than-fiction\/john-heald-208-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8525\" title=\"John Heald-208\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/John-Heald-2081-e1308630756192.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><strong>Case No. 1:<\/strong><br \/>\nA passenger was upset with Carnival because the ship she was on did not dock in Rome, and she was told it would be within walking distance of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/phome_en.htm\">Vatican<\/a>. Rome&#8217;s cruise-ship terminal is in Civitavecchia, about 50 miles away. It&#8217;s a long walk. She wanted to know what Mr. Heald was going to do about it. Really?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Case No. 2:<\/strong><br \/>\nAn irate guest blamed John Heald because he said to be aware of pick pockets in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rome.info\/\">Rome<\/a>. As a result, she and her son took no cash ashore and were surprised to find they had to pay to get into the Colosseum and the Vatican. Having taken a <em>Rome On Your Own<\/em> tour, they saw nothing and demanded compensation from Carnival. Or Heald. Really?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Case No. 3:<\/strong><br \/>\nA female passenger complained when she found herself on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnivalmagic.com\/\">Carnival Magic<\/a> after her travel agent sold her the wrong information by telling her she would be on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebritycruises.com\/home.do\">Celebrity<\/a> ship. She wanted to disembark from the Magic in Monaco and receive a full refund from the Cruise Director.
