Also emotional. Your sister is having a special birthday and you haven&#8217;t seen her in a year. You live far away. You almost pop out of the birthday cake, and the tears flow faster than the wine. There&#8217;s something special about popping out of a cake (or a car) to shock somebody when they&#8217;re least expecting it.<\/p>\n<p>Seabourn has taken it to a new level.<\/p>\n<p>At a special preview party of the Seabourn Quest (above), the ship that officially becomes the sixth ship in the fleet when it&#8217;s launched in Barcelona, there was such a surprise. International travel agents and members of the media were doing what international travel agents and members of the media do at such social occasions\u2026having cocktails and dinner. Since it was off the coast of Italy, presumably they were having gnocchi&#8230;or at least lasagne.<\/p>\n<p>The captain, Magnus Bengtsson, announced that the Quest&#8217;s little sister \u2014 the Legend (below) \u2014 was in the neighborhood and planning to make a courtesy, surprise visit. The crew members and guests on both ships poured to the windows and onto the deck to greet each other, cameras in hand, mistiness in eyes.<\/p>\n<p>And, surely, even the ships cried.<a rel=\"attachment wp-att-8505\" href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/2011\/06\/seabourn-ships-meeting-first-time\/legend-650\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8505\" title=\"Legend-650\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/Legend-650.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"252\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In some families, surprise visits are common.
