The word on the water, as opposed to the word on the street, is that Norwegian<\/a> is trying to accommodate the single parent\u2026just like it was the first cruise line to accommodate the single traveler.<\/p>\n

Typically, a single parent brave enough to take three kids on a cruise would pay full fare for the first child, and reduced fares for the second and third. So, for example, suppose full fare was $800 and reduced fare was $250, you’d be paying $2,100 for that modern family of one-plus-three (two times $800 plus two times $250).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Starting last week, such a family on the Epic<\/a> \u2014 currently sailing out of Barcelona<\/a> \u2014 would pay half-fare for the first child ($400), and the same for the others. That translates into a saving of $400.<\/p>\n

That could (read: could) also include two staterooms on the Epic, which means two bathrooms\u2026important stuff when you have three kids.<\/p>\n

Will it apply when the Epic returns to Florida in the fall?<\/p>\n

Nobody’s saying just yet, so maybe this\u00a0 is a test. NCL also tested cabins for singles (aka, solo travelers) on the Epic, and the idea is spreading.
