Our first impression upon seeing the Cruise Director on the Celebrity Eclipse<\/a> was this: His name is not really Que. His siblings are surely Tea and Ex. Right?<\/p>\n

He was identified, on the paperwork and the billboards and in real life, as Que Hundermark. Now there’s a pseudonym if ever there was one. Because Cruise Directors \"\"<\/a>tend to be\u2026well, colorful\u2026and blessed or cursed with a lifeline to a bottomless energy field, having a colorful name is a logical assumption. Being just “John” would never do.<\/p>\n

This Cruise Director had an accent but not a contrived one, an accent we quickly recognized because we have several friends from South Africa. None of our friends is named Que. None of our friends knows anyone named Que, from South Africa or anywhere else.<\/p>\n

So, what about it\u2026Que?<\/p>\n

“My parents,” he explains, “were James Bond lovers, and the gadget man was named Q, so that’s what they called me. No middle name, just Que.”<\/p>\n

Our children are old enough to be James Bond fans, so giving your child a letter of the alphabet for a name\u00a0 all made sense to them. It made only the slightest sense to us, so naturally we “Wikipedia-ed” James and Que, discovering they were together in 19 of 22 Bond movies, Q as the mythical head of the fictional R&D division of the British Secret Service.<\/p>\n

Amazing what you can learn from cruise directors, isn’t it?<\/p>\n
