He slept in his office and he made the instant decision to give the guests the compensation that was heralded by all. He also came to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandiego.gov\/\">San Diego<\/a> when the ship arrived and he came on board, put his bags down on the bridge and then walked the ship talking to many different guests and helped some by carrying their bags off the ship&#8221;&#8230;As it happened, Heald was on the ship when it caught fire&#8230;Repairing the Splendor took two weeks in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanfrancisco.com\/\">San Francisco<\/a>, the only West Coast facility large enough to get a ship so big completely out of the water.<\/p>\n<p>* * *<br \/>\nYou may have read about <strong>Qsine<\/strong>, arguably the most unique restaurant at sea, on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebritycruises.com\/plancruise\/ships\/ship.do;jsessionid=0000whxAuwbZ6DPnXJHW_oCH5Sm:12hdebcnj?shipCode=EC&amp;cS=SIDENAV\">Celebrity&#8217;s Eclipse<\/a><\/strong>&#8230;It costs $30, it&#8217;s small servings of tapas and shrimp and many dishes, and orders <a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6859\" href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/2011\/02\/cruise-ships-moving-refurbishments\/qsine-i-pad-300-3\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6859\" title=\"Qsine i pad-300\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Qsine-i-pad-3002-e1297389791292.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"271\" \/><\/a>are placed \u2014 by table \u2014 on an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/ipad\/\">iPad<\/a> (left), which also has a place for diners to enter wine tasting notes&#8230;Anyway, Qsine was such a hit that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebritycruises.com\">Celebrity<\/a> is making it a staple on other ships&#8230;When the next new ship (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebritycruises.com\/plancruise\/ships\/ship.do;jsessionid=0000xc8ln2MsN3mduMtil8N3RVH:12hdebcnj?shipCode=SI\">Silhouette<\/a><\/strong>) arrives in July, it will have one of course, but the Infinity gets a Qsine during a &#8220;revitalization&#8221; in December, the first Millennium Class ships to get one&#8230;The other three ships in that class \u2014 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebritycruises.com\/plancruise\/ships\/ship.do;jsessionid=0000r0m2HXbS06PSHH2XfGOisDl:12hdebcnj?shipCode=ML\">Millennium<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebritycruises.com\/plancruise\/ships\/ship.do;jsessionid=0000sgp7q9eje76DFZs-nC7qvMn:12hdebdrn?shipCode=SM&amp;cS=SIDENAV\">Summit<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebritycruises.com\/plancruise\/ships\/ship.do;jsessionid=0000whxAuwbZ6DPnXJHW_oCH5Sm:12hdebcnj?shipCode=CS\">Constellation<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 are due for refurbishing between next January and April 2013&#8230;More Qsines?&#8230;Duh!&#8230;On the subject of refurbishments, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalcaribbean.com\/home.do\"><strong>Royal Caribbean<\/strong><\/a> is sending <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalcaribbean.com\/findacruise\/ships\/class\/ship\/home.do;jsessionid=00000GSPUPQJOvx9sKin1L6RDZV:12hdhuaq2?br=R&amp;shipClassCode=RD&amp;shipCode=RD\">Radiance of the Seas<\/a><\/strong> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.victoria.ca\/common\/index.shtml\">Victoria<\/a>, British Columbia for one and then it&#8217;s off to Australia following a summer of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alaska.com\/\">Alaska<\/a> cruises&#8230;The Radiance will be in drydock for a month, so it must be quite the refurb.<\/p>\n<p>* * *<br \/>\nThe <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.princess.com\/learn\/ships\/ap\/index.html\">Grand Princess<\/a><\/strong> will get the same treatment (okay, similar) for 24 days in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebahamasguide.com\/islands\/grandbahama\/default.htm\">Freeport<\/a>, Bahamas&#8230;The makeover, announced Thursday, will be the largest ever undertaken by Princess, and includes replacing <strong>Skywalker&#8217;s<\/strong> on Deck 18 with a new nightclub called <strong>One 5<\/strong> on Deck 15, which will improve the ship&#8217;s operational performance, including fuel <a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6917\" href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/2011\/02\/cruise-ships-moving-refurbishments\/grand-princess-before-6\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6917\" title=\"Grand Princess-before\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Grand-Princess-before5-e1297530844158.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6918\" href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/2011\/02\/cruise-ships-moving-refurbishments\/grand-princess-after-6\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6918\" title=\"Grand Princess-after\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Grand-Princess-after5-e1297530883396.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a>efficiency&#8230;Who figures out these things?&#8230;And how?&#8230;The &#8220;before&#8221; photo and &#8220;after&#8221; artist rendering of the Grand Princess (above) that will emerge from drydock in the spring help to explain it&#8230;Australia&#8217;s cruising expansion is continuing&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\">Carnival<\/a> is sending its <strong>Spirit<\/strong> &#8220;Down Under&#8221;
