That means they cost more…does anybody remember when $12 would get you into Disneyland for the day? So when a deal comes along like the current one offered for a Disney cruise, it warrants consideration.

This year, the Wonder becomes the first Disney ship to enter Alaskan waters, departing from Vancouver for that inaugural voyage on May 3. For families in the north-west quadrant of the continent, driving to Vancouver is certainly do-able. Here’s the deal…

Kids sail free.

You can check out all the configurations of rooms, conditions and number of kids at the Disney website, but we’d like to take one example to demonstrate how good a deal this is (or isn’t). The sailing dates are all during the shoulder season leading into summer Alaska cruises (May 3 to June 7).

Taking June 7, because presumably it’s the best of the five dates weather-wise, the price for a family of four is $4,112. That’s $1,849 per adult guest, and zero for two kids ages 17 or under, plus taxes.

We took the same date, the same stateroom (deluxe oceanview), the same deck choice (5, 6, 7) but without the sale code. Here’s what it produced.

Adults — $1,849 each. First kid $1,269. Second kid $1,159. Total, including taxes: $6,540. (No, you cannot take only the second kid!)

Savings: $2,428.

So, Disney has deals, too.

It’s safe to assume Disney has impacted almost everyone, in some way, in North America.
