For the next week, Captain\u2019s Club members with Celebrity can book trips on the Silhouette, the new ship that hits the water in 2011. Starting next Tuesday, the ship is available to more than just Celebrity\u2019s loyal customers, and cruisers who like to be on inaugural sailings will be lining up for this one.
\nThe Silhouette \u2014 fourth in the line of Solstice class ships \u2014 sails next July 23 from Hamburg to Rome, via Barcelona. It\u2019s a seven-day trip to home base, which will be Civitavecchia (Rome) for the summer season. In October, the Silhouette heads across the Atlantic for the winter season, out of Fort Lauderdale.
\nBig ships like this won\u2019t be seen on the west coast of North America until after 2014, when the new Panama Canal opens to allow vessels of this size passage to \u201cthe other side.\u201d Until then, they\u2019re just too big to cross the Isthmus.
