{"id":373,"date":"2010-02-05T16:00:06","date_gmt":"2010-02-05T23:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/?p=373"},"modified":"2010-02-05T16:00:06","modified_gmt":"2010-02-05T23:00:06","slug":"procedures-same-as-locked-bags","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vitaluna.net\/?p=373","title":{"rendered":"Procedure&#8217;s Same as Locked Bags"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After blogs about Carnival&#8217;s policy of requesting bags be unlocked once turned over to ship\u2019s porters at dockside, Carnival was quick to respond, courtesy of Vance Gullicksen, who told Canada&#8217;s cruise writer Phil Reimer:<br \/>\n&#8220;It is recommended that guests keep their luggage unlocked in order to avoid any inconvenience or delay in the delivery of luggage to the cabin.\u00a0If luggage is locked [including TSA locks] and potentially prohibited items are identified during the screening process, that luggage will be retained and must be opened by the guest in the presence of security personnel. Our prohibited items policy is not new and is designed to ensure the safety of all guests and crew. We are merely taking steps to reinforce it more strictly.\u00a0The purpose of our checked baggage screening is to identify prohibited items including but not limited to weapons, candles, irons, alcohol and dangerous goods.\u00a0 Generally speaking, if a prohibited item is found, it will be removed and stored for safekeeping until the end of the voyage. Unsealed liquids that are prohibited will be discarded, as well as any unclaimed items left after the voyage.&#8221;<br \/>\nSo, if the bags are locked or unlocked, the screening process is the same as always.
