It\u2019s 1974. You\u2019re Elvis Presley \u2014 many wished that for almost two decades. You\u2019re not at the height of your career, but you\u2019re still packing them in wherever you go. Some people actually are<\/i> \u201cElvis Presley\u201d\u2026as impersonators are beginning to pop up. Your country is in an awful war (like there are any other kind), in Vietnam.<\/p>\n

Fast forward 42 years.<\/p>\n

Elvis is long gone. The impersonators are not. In fact, there are more Elvis look-a-likes than ever. Some of them are even pretty good performers, not just in Vegas<\/a> and assorted venues ranging from small theaters to street corners.<\/p>\n

One is doing it in Vietnam<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His real name is Damian Mullin<\/a> and he\u2019s an Australian\u2026crikey! He\u2019s the best of Australia\u2019s \"Elvis<\/a>Elvis impersonators, having won the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and he has the seal of approval from Elvis Presley Enterprises<\/a>, which means The King\u2019s company has a financial interest in the performances in\u2026Vietnam.<\/p>\n

The event will take place over eight days in September, on board La Marguerite, a river cruise ship that sails under the flag of AmaWaterways<\/a> through its Australian partners, on the Mekong River in Cambodia<\/a> and Vietnam.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity to present something different with a more intimate atmosphere,\u201d said Jodie Quick, director of The Cruise Gallery<\/a>, the Australian agency that\u2019s selling the tour. \u201cMost music cruises are on larger ships\u2026[this one] gives passengers the chance to travel somewhere more adventurous and exotic with the comfort of Elvis\u2019 crooning!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The cruise is called Rockin\u2019 the Mekong.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

You can only imagine what Elvis would be thinking.<\/span><\/p>\n
