The disappointing Lions went into New Orleans and beat the equally disappointing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neworleanssaints.com\/\">Saints<\/a> 35-27.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">But the Lions weren\u2019t the only winners, thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/\">Carnival Cruise Line<\/a>, which saw to it that a lot of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neworleansonline.com\/\">New Orleans<\/a> people did not go away as empty-handed as their Saints.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As the local football team\u2019s \u201cofficial cruise line\u201d Carnival will provide more than 75,000 meals to hungry families and\/or homeless people in the Louisiana mecca during the<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26586\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26586\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Carnival-Can-ship-1-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26586\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Carnival-Can-ship-1-copy.jpg\" alt=\"Volunteers from the Second Harvest Food Bank work on the world's largest Carnival cruise ship made of cans. It didn\u2019t happen overnight \u2014 neither did MNF\u2019s win and loss for the NFL teams \u2014 and it involved students from New Orleans-area schools. Carnival and the Saints provided the incentives (from pizza parties to autographed footballs free cruises for the schools that collected the most cans of food).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Monday night was the celebration, at half-time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">To mark it, Carnival volunteers created \u201cthe world\u2019s largest cruise ship built of canned food.\u201d The 17,000 cans of food were part of the haul that will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank in time for Christmas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">There are currently two Carnival ships based in New Orleans \u2014 the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cms\/fun\/ships\/carnival_dream\/default.aspx?shipCode=DR\">Dream<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cms\/fun\/ships\/carnival_elation\/default.aspx?shipCode=EL\">Elation<\/a> \u2014<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cms\/fun\/ships\/carnival_triumph\/default.aspx?shipCode=TI\">Triumph<\/a> arriving in the spring to replace the smaller Elation.
