Cruise aficionados who spend a lot of time soaking up the rays or jumping into pools large and small &mdash; or both &mdash; believe part of the appeal of a cruise ship is its pool deck. While we&rsquo;re neither sun worshippers nor avid swimmers, we always take pictures of the pool deck because, well, we never know when we&rsquo;ll need them for a day like today&hellip;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1-Allure.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"1-Allure\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25403\" height=\"488\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1-Allure.jpg\" width=\"650\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>This was when <\/i><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.allureoftheseas.com\"><b><i>Allure of the Seas<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i> was showing its pool deck to North Americans for the first time, in Fort Lauderdale.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/2-Diadema.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"2-Diadema\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25404\" height=\"488\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/2-Diadema.jpg\" width=\"650\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>You&rsquo;d probably never use &ldquo;Italian&rdquo; to describe this rather modest pool area, but it&rsquo;s the <\/i><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.costacruise.com\/usa\/costa_diadema.html\"><b><i>Costa Diadema<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i> and very Italian.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/3-Epic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Epic pool\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25405\" height=\"488\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/3-Epic.jpg\" width=\"650\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>&ldquo;Unique&rdquo; has always applied to the <\/i><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.ncl.com\/ship\/epic\"><b><i>Norwegian Epic<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i>, and you won&rsquo;t likely see this kind of artwork in another cruise deck pool.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/4-AmaDara.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"AmaDara pool deck\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25406\" height=\"488\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/4-AmaDara.jpg\" width=\"650\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>On river ships, the pool area is usually secondary and frequently unpopulated, as it usually is on AmaWaterways&rsquo; new <\/i><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amawaterways.com\/ships\/amadara\"><b><i>AmaDara<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i>.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/5-Ecstasy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"5-Ecstasy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25407\" height=\"730\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/5-Ecstasy.jpg\" width=\"650\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>&ldquo;Busy&rdquo; is always a good descriptor for a Carnival ship&rsquo;s pool deck, and that was certainly the case on the <\/i><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cms\/fun\/ships\/carnival_ecstasy\/default.aspx?shipCode=EC\"><b><i>Carnival Ecstasy<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i>.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/6-Reflection.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"6-Reflection\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25408\" height=\"488\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/6-Reflection.jpeg\" width=\"650\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>A &ldquo;peaceful&rdquo; area on the <\/i><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebritycruises.com\/explore\/ships\/detail.do?shipCode=RF\"><b><i>Celebrity Reflection<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i> enhanced by huge artwork on the walls of a ship know for its artistic impressions.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/7-Riviera.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"7-Riviera\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25409\" height=\"488\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/7-Riviera.jpeg\" width=\"650\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n\t<b><i>On the <\/i><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oceaniacruises.com\/ships\/riviera\/default.aspx\"><b><i>Oceania Riviera<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i>, the upper deck is tasteful and understated, with a pool meant for dipping more than swimming.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><u><em><strong>In the news&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><\/u><\/p>\n<p>&bull;
