{"id":23234,"date":"2015-02-03T01:00:51","date_gmt":"2015-02-03T09:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/?p=23234"},"modified":"2015-02-03T01:00:51","modified_gmt":"2015-02-03T09:00:51","slug":"monday-99","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vitaluna.net\/?p=23234","title":{"rendered":"If Sick, May It Be On A Cruise Ship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Over the past couple of weeks, there have been at least three reports of airlifting cruise passengers from ships for medical reasons&hellip;obviously emergencies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">A week ago, on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnival.com\/cms\/fun\/ships\/carnival_triumph\/default.aspx?shipCode=TI\">Carnival Triumph<\/a>, an eight-month-old baby was having seizures and had to be airlifted to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visithoustontexas.com\/\">Houston<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Earlier in the month, a 51-year-old woman on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnivalmagic.com\/\">Carnival Magic<\/a> was taken from the ship by helicopter 180 miles from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.galveston.com\/default.asp\">Galveston<\/a> after suffering from respiratory problems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Also last month, near New Zealand, a 23-year-old passenger had a suspected heart attack and was flown from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seabourn.com\/YourYachts\/Odyssey\/\">Seabourn Odyssey<\/a> to a hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The bottom line is what one ship&rsquo;s doctor told us last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">&ldquo;The best place to have a heart attack, or many other medical problems, is on a cruise ship,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;You pick up the phone in your stateroom, call the medical center, and we&rsquo;re in your room within minutes. And we have all the equipment needed to deal with such emergencies.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">And when necessary, to bring in a helicopter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">That doesn&rsquo;t mean medical emergencies always have happy endings.
