A week or so ago, <\/span>Windstar Cruises<\/a> unveiled its new logo. How important is a logo? Well, people like the ones at Windstar pay a lot of money to creative geniuses to get it right when trying to find (or changing) the most visible part of its branding.<\/span><\/p>\n

For people like us, logos are important. For example, when we're driving long distances and it's time for coffee, we peruse the"food" signage at exits or the \"Windstar\"<\/a>landscape ahead and on the horizon for the Starbucks "siren." It's gotten so that we can spot her a mile away…well, almost.<\/p>\n

While you don't hop off and hop on cruise ships like that, if you're at all interested in what cruise line that ship following you into port is from, the logo is important because you see it before the ship's name comes into focus.<\/p>\n

Some of them are obvious, like Norwegian<\/a> (NCL) and Disney<\/a> (mouse ears). Others are not. In years of watching for one cruise ship from the deck of another, we've come to recognize most of them on sight.<\/p>\n
