\"Jimmy<\/a>So…<\/span>Jimmy Buffett<\/a> or "Jimmy Buffett?" <\/span>Rod Stewart<\/a> or "Rod Stewart?" <\/span>Michael Jackson<\/a> or…don't go there. These are the options that <\/span>Legends in Concert<\/i> have given the world, for the last three decades. For the last three years, they've been doing shows on the <\/span>Norwegian Epic<\/a>…the 1,000th one earlier this month.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite having seen the billboards and come-ons for years in Las Vegas, it was the Epic that introduced us to Legends in Concert<\/i><\/a>. We were skeptical, to say the least, about going to see "impersonators" which is what these people were called before they were "tributes." In thinking about it, the prospect of seeing "Elvis" at every state fair or local theater probably — in the early days at least — poisoned what this has become.<\/p>\n

And what it has become is big business.<\/p>\n

\"Legend-Britney\"<\/a>There are tributes of artists from A to Z…that's Abba to Britney Spears<\/a> to Whoopi Goldberg (as close as they come to Z). The cast includes stars from the relatively new (Katy Perry<\/a> and Carrie Underwood<\/a>) to the deceased — and the list there is long and, alas, growing: Frank Sinatra<\/a> and Louie Armstrong<\/a>, Whitney Houston<\/a> \"Legends-Michael\"<\/a>and Judy Garland<\/a>, Johnny Cash<\/a> and John Lennon<\/a>, Dusty Springfield and Donna Summer.<\/p>\n

It includes people who don't or didn't sing, like Ed Sullivan<\/a> and Jay Leno<\/a>. Groups from The Beatles<\/a> to the Supremes. There are currently 16 Elvis Presleys<\/a> available (after all, he's only been gone for 36 years), four Michael Jacksons, four Neil Diamonds<\/a>, three Blues Brothers (that's three pairs) and three Dolly Partons<\/a>…don't go there, either. <\/p>\n

The current stable lists 117 imperso…ah, tributes.<\/p>\n

And guess what?<\/p>\n

The early skeptics — that would be us — have seen Legends in Concert<\/i> twice, both times on the Epic. And now we'd go again…and again…and again…<\/p>\n

Yes, they are that good.<\/p>\n
