The other day we were at the Auto Club and, being attuned to all things cruising, a brochure about <\/span>Cunard<\/a> cruises caught our eyes. As brochures in general become more extinct, or so it seems, we decided to take it home and do some price comparisons.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Here's what we found…<\/span><\/p>\n

We chose a cruise at random cruise. It  happened to be on the Queen Elizabeth<\/a>, next October, from Rome<\/a> to Venice<\/a>…Pearls of the Adriatic<\/i> it's called, a 7-day itinerary with stops in three Eastern Mediterranean ports.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the brochure, these were the prices for the respected calibre of stateroom:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Cunard<\/a>Queens Suite — $3,849<\/span>
\n\tPrincess Suite — $2,849<\/span>
\n\tClub Balcony — $2,299<\/span>
\n\tBalcony — $1,499<\/span>
\n\tOceanview — $1,399<\/span>
\n\tInside — $999<\/span><\/p>\n

On the Cunard website, these are the current prices:<\/span><\/p>\n

Queens Suite — $3,299<\/span>
\n\tPrincess Suite — $2,299<\/span>
\n\tClub Balcony — $2,299<\/span>
\n\tBalcony — $999<\/span>
\n\tOceanview — $999<\/span>
\n\tInside — $999<\/span><\/p>\n

As you can see, the bottom three categories are all $999. For a balcony, that's a $500 saving over the brochure price. As you can also see, none of the prices have gone up since the brochure was printed, so it's safe to assume that the printed ones are the starting fares…subject to change.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why do cruise lines even print brochures in this age of digital technology? Because there are still people who don't go online as much as most of us…or maybe at all.<\/span><\/p>\n
