News release: <\/i>Norwegian Cruise Line<\/i><\/a> has launched a new Gift Card that can be redeemed toward the purchase of a cruise or onboard expenditures, making it easier for guests to give the gift of cruising to friends and loved ones.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Kind of makes you wonder why it took so long for somebody to think of this, doesn't it?<\/span><\/p>\n

When there are gift cards available in a myriad of values ($10, $25, $50, $100, etc.) for a myriad of things (baby toys, clothiers, furniture, coffee, <\/span>\"Norwegian<\/a>restaurants, etc.)…why not cruises? Do you think somebody going on a cruise wouldn't appreciate an extra $25 to spend on the ship, in celebration of an occasion for the recipient and in relief of the shopper?<\/span><\/p>\n

But here's a thought…<\/span><\/p>\n

Cruise lines have loyalty programs, and loyalty cards — buy more cruises, get special offers; in most cases, it requires multiple cruises for any benefit. So why not a points card, like all the other points cards.<\/span><\/p>\n

A point or two per dollar spent on the ship, and a corresponding rewards program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every other vendor seems to do it, so why not cruise lines?<\/span><\/p>\n
