If you happen to be going on a cruise next week, you will be interested in this. And if you're not going on a cruise, you will be interested in this.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mother Nature is giving us a fireworks show, and it's logical that high on the list of places to watch it will be from the deck of a cruise ship.<\/p>\n

Mark next Monday (April 22) on your calendar. That's Earth Day<\/a> \"\"<\/a>but also Sky Day, because there will be a Lyrid meteor shower lighting up the northern hemisphere. That they are called Lyrids wouldn't matter that much except that they (a) tend to be bright (b) tend to leave trails and (c) can produce 10 to 100 meteors an hour at peak time.<\/p>\n

What's peak time?<\/p>\n

Late night Monday or early morning (before sunrise) Tuesday. Meteors' being meteors, they didn't post a schedule. All scientists know is it happens every spring, giving a whole new meaning to April showers, and say the best time will likely be in the hours just before dawn on Tuesday…probably starting about four o'clock.<\/p>\n

These April shooting stars will be visible from everywhere in the northern hemisphere, clouds permitting. Telescopes and binoculars unnecessary. Staying away from artificial lights advisable. Being on a cruise ship, with all that sky…<\/p>\n

Yes…priceless.<\/span><\/p>\n
