Check out our winter escape habits&#8230;West Coasters head for California or Arizona, mid-Westerners go to Texas, and Easterners seek the sun of Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Once on a while, somebody crosses over, but the distance and time (changes) are deterrents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">It seems restaurateurs have a similar compass.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geoffreyzakarian.com\/\">Geoffrey Zakarian<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Last summer, Norwegian announced that the celebrity chef would create and oversee <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/2013\/03\/16627\/zakarian-1-copy\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-16673\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16673\" height=\"325\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Zakarian-1-copy.jpg\" title=\"Geoffrey Zakarian\" width=\"350\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><em>Ocean Blue<\/em>, the luxury seafood dining experience on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breakaway.ncl.com\/\">Breakaway<\/a>, the new ship that will <\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\">arrive in New York City in about three months. Norwegian&#39;s <\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\">boss, Kevin Sheehan, paid tribute to Zakarian&#39;s &quot;deep roots in New York City.&quot;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Everything about the Breakaway, to be permanently based in The Big Apple, has a New York motif.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Fast forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">This week, <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.ncl.com\/\">Norwegian<\/a> announced that Zakarian would do essentially the same thing on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.ncl.com\/cruise-ship\/getaway\/overview\">Getaway<\/a>, the new and sister ship that will arrive next February. Another <em>Ocean Blue<\/em> restaurant, another <em>Ocean Blue on the Waterfront<\/em> (more casual), and another seafood eatery known as <em>The Raw Bar<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Did we mention that the Getaway will be permanently based in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miami.com\/\">Miami<\/a>?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Zakarian is basically a northerner, who was born in Massachusetts and who first became an acclaimed chef in New York, where the <em>New York Times<\/em> once proclaimed he &quot;seems to have his finger on the pulse of Manhattan.&quot; That was 15 years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">By then, the <em>Food Network<\/em> and <em>Iron Chef <\/em>celebrity had already been an executive chef in South Beach, at a Miami restaurant called <em>Blue Door<\/em>.
