Quickly now…who's Monty Norman?<\/span><\/p>\n

If you've never heard of him, you have most certainly heard him or his works. The most famous one starts "dum di-di dum dum…" and is the signature music for James Bond<\/a>. The JB <\/span>theme, as it's called and as it's been heard on 25 Bond films, including the one (Skyfall<\/em><\/a>) <\/span>\"\"<\/a>that raked in $87.5 million on its first day in theaters last weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n

Monty Norman wrote the theme, 50 years ago. While that has made him a wealthy man almost $1 million, and counting, in royalties), it wasn't until last week that he boarded a cruise ship to cross the Atlantic Ocean.<\/span><\/p>\n

He did so on the Queen Mary 2<\/a> and, according to Cunard<\/a>, loved it: "Marvellous…will certainly do it again."<\/span><\/p>\n

Norman, who plays piano and electric guitar, also wrote the entire musical score for the first James Bond film, Dr. No<\/em>. He is well-known on that side of the Atlantic as a singer and composer, and lyricist for stage musicals and films.<\/span><\/p>\n

And now, he's better-known on this side of the ocean<\/span>.<\/p>\n
