\"\"<\/a>A few days ago, a friend called to inquire about going on an Alaska cruise. He and his wife had been on cruises but always on smaller ships. Now they were planning a cruise with friends, with Alaska<\/a> as their chosen destination.<\/p>\n

As we all learn in life, recommendations can be dangerous. Okay, tricky. What one person likes, another hates. On Friday, we encountered people just back from a Caribbean cruise. They didn’t like the Mexican ports, Costa Maya<\/a> in particular. Fair enough. While we can understand why, on two visits we recognized Costa Maya for what it is, and made the best of our time there.<\/p>\n

Timing is everything.<\/p>\n

While playing telephone and\/or email tag with our friend, along came a press release from Princess Cruises<\/a>. As it happens, last fall we spent two weeks in Alaska on a Princess Cruisetour and, despite so-so weather and some imaginary wildlife, we had a terrific time.<\/p>\n

The press release was to announce a big Alaska sale \u2014 starting today \u2014 for Princess customers, and it appears to be a good one. We passed along the details to our friend and pointed him to the website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
