\"\"<\/a>My husband loves cruises and he loves football. On Sunday, he could still get on the Norwegian Epic<\/a> and watch the Super Bowl with as many as 4,000 other football fans.<\/p>\n

It is his worst nightmare.<\/p>\n

Let me tell you tell you something about this football fan, since he is always willing to tell you things about me, whether I like it or not.<\/p>\n

When he watches football, he also listens. That means silence is mandatory. He watches games by himself. No conversations. No armchair quarterbacking. And most of all…no parties.<\/p>\n

The NCL<\/a> party is on all ships but the Jade, which is in Europe, where the Super Bowl is just another North American football game to be ignored. If I put him in position to join in “the excitement of the world’s largest Super Bowl party at sea” it would be cruel and unusual punishment. He wouldn’t care about winning a chance to win a Miller\/Coors tee shirt, or even dinner for two at Cagney’s (much to my chagrin), Norwegian’s signature steakhouse.<\/p>\n

All he would care about is being able to watch \u2014 and hear \u2014 the game. Yes, even the commercials.<\/p>\n

He has a friend who goes one step further. His friend watches the game, also alone, with the sound turned off. My favorite football fan hasn’t gone that far yet, so they won’t be watching the Super Bowl together this weekend. One likes pictures…the other wants the sound, too.<\/p>\n

Personally, I think it’s because of the commercials.<\/p>\n
