{"id":10340,"date":"2011-11-23T01:31:35","date_gmt":"2011-11-23T09:31:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/?p=10340"},"modified":"2011-11-23T01:31:35","modified_gmt":"2011-11-23T09:31:35","slug":"iroom-internet-access-for-visions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vitaluna.net\/?p=10340","title":{"rendered":"iRoom Internet Access for Visions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, we were reading a press release from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalcaribbean.com\/home.do\">Royal Caribbean<\/a> about the enhancements that will be made to the six Vision Class ships when they go into dry-dock over the next two years.<\/p>\n<p>They had us at &#8220;iPad.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalcaribbean.com\/findacruise\/ships\/class\/ship\/home.do;jsessionid=0000qNZMYvzM70BFt-cLBOv1KIR:12hbioan0?br=R&amp;shipClassCode=VI&amp;shipCode=SP\">Splendour of the Seas<\/a> emerges from its facelift early in 2012, there will be <a href=\"http:\/\/store.apple.com\/ca\/browse\/home\/shop_ipad\/family\/ipad?afid=p219|GOCA&amp;cid=AOS-CA-KWG\">iPads<\/a> in every stateroom. This is a revolutionary step, and only a little bit surprising in view of the <a rel=\"attachment wp-att-10347\" href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/2011\/11\/iroom-internet-access-for-visions\/splendour-650\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-10347\" title=\"Splendour-650\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Splendour-650.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a>fact that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.celebritycruises.com\/home.do\">Celebrity<\/a> ships with their iLounges seemed to have some kind of exclusive agreement with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\">Apple<\/a>, or so we were led to believe.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are sister cruise lines, under the Royal Caribbean corporate umbrella.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s such a big deal about the iPads?<a rel=\"attachment wp-att-10355\" href=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/2011\/11\/iroom-internet-access-for-visions\/ipad-250-3\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10355\" title=\"iPad-250\" src=\"http:\/\/cruisingdoneright.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/iPad-2501.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"319\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For one thing, whether the PC lovers like it or not, the iPad is the most highly regarded tablet in the computer industry. Also the most popular. Having all passengers with room access to an iPad is going to enable them to monitor their onboard account, watch movies, access the daily schedule and personal itineraries, check out restaurant menus and order room service. In other words, everything passengers have been doing on the room TVs.<\/p>\n<p>Oh yes, and did we say they can go online?<\/p>\n<p>Therein lies the real winner for Royal Caribbean.
